Continuing the conversation on cybersecurity leaders’ concerns is physical security operations. Some cybersecurity leaders (CSOs) are accountable for physical security operations, which can vary across critical infrastructure industry sectors, markets, and verticals. This falls under facilities or loss prevention (retail) for some organizations. When it does not, the cybersecurity leaders are usually consulted and informed to maintain alignment between leadership. There is also an HR component to the conversation when discussing the physical security of personnel and executives with domestic and international travel. Likewise, there is a need for onsite safety across remote offices and data centers. Portions of the physical security operations are tied into cyber resilience for emergency response, site evacuation procedures, and crisis management (fire, active shooter).
